Dates

So we seem to be developing a culture around our house, or maybe a tradition, that involves dates.  Not the dried fruit, but special time spent between two people.  Maybe it's become a necessity when somebody wants to go but not everybody can go, or maybe we're just trying to be more intentional about our relationships, but we're finding ways to go on dates more and more.

Tonight was Allegra's first mommy date.  I hadn't really thought about spending special time just with her, so I'm glad she asked.  What did she want to do?  Drive down to the gas station for slushies! (A 25 mile round trip.)  She had brought it up a little while ago and tonight we were able to make it happen--so fun!

Past dates have included trips to the symphony, breakfast out, going archery golfing, and just out for walks.  Jim and I enjoyed the "world's shortest date" when we ran across the street and back for ice cream sundaes.

I'm glad to have the opportunity to "put a little money in the bank" with my kids. I know I'll need to make withdrawals soon enough, but I'd like to keep our relationships in the black.
