Merriment

All of our recent merriment is exhausting!  I guess there's a good reason I haven't visited my blog in a month or so--let me fill you in.

Shortly after the New Year, my parents came for a visit, staying here with us for a week. We had a great time enjoying each other and the kids.  Somehow, I never remember to take pictures when they're here, so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Right after they left, we celebrated Teran's 9th birthday, woohoo!  He's a great guy and we so much enjoy the special place he fills in our family (and not just because he's the only boy, either!).

This past weekend we really cranked up our activities, too much really, but it makes for good stories.
Saturday morning we started a month of weekly swimming lessons at the YMCA in Spokane (thanks Grandpa and Grandma Daily!).  All 4 kids are in classes, Karis with me, and everybody had a good time.

Saturday night we enjoyed seeing Jim's bluegrass band in their second public appearance in Coeur d'Alene.  So far they are getting really good feedback, and have been invited to play in two previously closed music festivals this summer.  Jim's really enjoying the group, as it's the first time he's gotten to play with an all-Christian band (except for church), and the group is really good. Sunday afternoon Teran and I got to go to the Symphony!  (Thanks, Grandma Adams!)  This year Micaiah and Teran will each go to two concerts in Spokane; what a great opportunity to hear classical music done well, live.

And last but not least, this afternoon we thoroughly enjoyed an archery class with some local homeschoolers.  Micaiah, Teran, and Allegra all have bows, but Allegra's interest is rather short-lived; she enjoyed Mrs. Snow's chickens more than anything else, I think.

So, you can imagine that we're a little tired!  Now we must get back to wood-splitting, cooking. laundry and animals, and somewhere find time for school!  I love my life, but I think I'll go to bed....
